BENTLEY CC - NEWS |
All supporters are welcome so please feel free to attend on the day.
Many thanks.
11/02/2013 - Girls & Ladies UpdateWe are also proud to announce that a squad of fourteen U19 Essex Ladies are travelling to Dubai on 17th February for a week to compete for the MCC Arch Trophy. Of those fourteen players, three are Bentley Girls - we wish Katherine Whelan, Lucy Lawless and Mady Villiers every success and hope they enjoy this fantastic experience.
LADIES NEWS
Bentley have been given a grant through the Sportivate Initiative to
introduce more young women into the game. There are 4 training sessions
available to any 14 - 25 year olds interested in taking up cricket.
These will be held on Fridays March 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd at Becket
Keys School (was Sawyers Hall), 6.30 - 8.00pm in the Sports Hall. No
equipment necessary, just suitable sports clothing/trainers. FREE to all
regardless of experience and ability. If you know of any young women
that would be interested, contact Alison Whelan (bentleycc@ajwhelan.com)
or Julie Bacon (juliebacon1@gmail.com)
We had a fledgling ladies team last year, which we want to build on, and providing the weather behaves this year, there will be the opportunity to play plenty of friendly matches this Summer.
Regards,
Bentley CC
11/02/2013 - Active Kids VouchersWhy not ask grandparents, neighbours and friends to collect for us too?

Many thanks,
Bentley CC
13/09/2012 - Bentley Club Match & Curry NightPlease also make sure you tick up before Tuesday night if you want to play in the club match. This is for all players who have been playing adult cricket this season, and last years' match was great fun. We will again be serving teas at the innings' interval.
Curry Night & Club Match Prices:
Match + Curry = £9
Match Only = £6
Curry Only = £4
Everyone is welcome to come along and watch and join us for curry in the evening. The bar will be open all afternoon! We will aim to get the match going about 1pm so we hope to see you there!
Many thanks for your support,

The match will start at 1pm prompt and the teams will use the main changing rooms on the balcony, plus be having tea in the main pavilion. The main pavilion and bar will also be accessible to all spectators for refreshments from commencement of play.

We look forward to seeing you on the day to support our girls to victory.
Bentley CC
We'd like to point your attention to our next social, the 7 a Side Tournament on Sunday 5th August starting in the afternoon. Time is running out to sign up so please email, text, message or tick up using the sheet on our notice board and/or the tick up book. This is for ANYONE who is of the age group U13 and over, and we need all the names by Tuesday 31st July. It promises to be a fun and light-hearted afternoon, and we're aiming for a decent mix of players, colts and parents.
We hope to hear from you soon,
Bentley CC
To remember Pete and those who are no longer at the Club we are planning to hold a Bentley Old Boys XI versus Current Bentley Players XI. This game will start at 2pm and have the same format as the match held in 2010, with the current Bentley XI placing a strong emphasis on experience, cunning and guile rather than youthful exuberance!
In addition to an entertaining, friendly game of cricket there will also be a barbeque and the bar will be open all day. Friday night Colts training will still be taking place as usual from 6.30pm.
We look forward to seeing you then.
Our next social event is the Snail Race Night on Saturday 21st July, starting at 8pm. Come rain or shine our social events will go ahead regardless of whether there are adult matches or colts’ training called off or not. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that all club members, friends and family are invited and encouraged to attend, as we were a little disappointed with the numbers on Saturday. A lot of effort goes into planning these events and it's a great chance to socialise while enjoying something a bit different!
Full details of the race night will follow, but if you would like to buy a snail please let Matt or Phil Coleman know, or send an email to coleman_matt@hotmail.co.uk. There will be 7 cartoon snail races, each have 8 snails in and they cost £10 each. If your snail wins you win £40! If you or your company would like to sponsor a race, please also let us know. It costs £25 to put your name to a race. The 8th race will be the traditional 'Auction Race'. All monies raised are used for the benefit of all members so please have a flutter and buy a snail and/or sponsor a race. If not, we look forward to seeing you there!
Kind Regards,
Matt and Phil Coleman
Social Secretaries

24/05/2012 - Membership Forms & Annual
Subscriptions
So the season has finally got underway after the terrible
weather of the past month. Now we are training and playing matches
it is important to ensure you have completed the required
membership form(s) and paid
the relevant annual subscription(s). If you have already paid then
thank you for your continued support.
Annual Subscriptions were due on May 1st but we appreciate the weather will have caused a delay in some of you being able to come to the Club and return your form and money.
If you have not yet completed a form nor paid the required annual subscription please can you return your form(s) and annual subscription(s) to Sarah Peberdy as soon as possible. Sarah is at the Club on the majority of training nights so you can pay in person if you require.
For the Colts section (Under 15, Under 13, Under 11, and Under 9) we utilise a new wrist band system to ensure all those training have registered. Once you have completed the required membership form and paid the annual subscription, you will be given a Bentley CC wrist band and water bottle. It is important that the wrist bands are worn at each training session. Failure to wear the wrist band will require the colt to receive a stamp from Sarah Peberdy to confirm registration. Unfortunately without a wrist band or stamp the child will be unable to train.
The evening will commence at 7.30pm and all members, family, and friends are welcome to attend. Hopefully the weather will be better so you can enjoy a drink in some evening sunshine. We look forward to seeing you then and thank you for your support.
Other Social Event Dates for your diaries are:

Bentley Cricket Club would like to thank Paul Whelan and Phil
Peberdy for their hard work in converting the team photos and framed
items on display around the pavilion into electronic images.
Now we have these they are available on the Club website under the Team Photos page. A special thanks to Paul who had a large amount of cleaning and refining to do with the electronic images, to give us the optimised pictures we have.
30/04/2012 - 50 Club Monthly Prize Draw
Bentley Cricket Club operates a monthly prize draw called the 50

entrants it means we can increase prizes. Each entry costs only £12 per
year and there are 11 Monthly Prizes and one Annual Grand Prize Draw.
The prizes effective from May 2012 are as follows:
Annual 1st = £125
Annual 2nd = £60
Annual 3rd = £30
Monthly 1st Prize = £15
Monthly 2nd Prize = £5
Any profit from this 50 Club competition goes towards providing improved facilities and equipment at Bentley Cricket Club.
To enter the 50 Club please contact the Club Treasurer, Michael Flood, you can pay for entry using Standing Order, Cash, or Cheque. The earlier you enter the sooner you could start winning!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Michael, e-mail mike.flood@live.co.uk or mobile 07737 260336.
Many thanks for your support.
So for those of you who have been collecting these over the past few months for the Cricket Club, can you please bring them to the pavilion and post them in the collection box on the bar.
19/04/2012 - Club Shirts to Display Sponsors Logo
Bentley Cricket Club was fortunate to receive a 3 year sponsorship
deal from Baits Direct at the start of the 2011 season. This sponsorship
went towards providing the Portakabin changing facility at the Club.
As part of this sponsorship agreement we as a Club must display the Baits Direct logo on the back of our playing shirts, this covers Adults, Ladies, and Colts cricket matches. These shirts with the new logo are now available from Fenton's in Brentwood High Street.
We appreciate that many players will not currently require new shirts, so the Club have arranged for Fenton's to take your existing Bentley shirt and have it sent away for the logo to be put on the back for free. This service is available for any shirt that displays the Bentley logo on the front, and will take approximately 4-7 days to be done. All you need to do is take your shirt in to Fenton's and ask for the Baits Direct logo on the back.
As this is a free logo the Club committee feel that each playing member within any of the Bentley teams should display this logo. Therefore it is the responsibility of each player to ensure they either have the logo put on their shirt or buy a new pre-logoed shirt if required, before 5th May 2012. This is highly encouraged by the committee as failure to display the logo could jeopardise this and any future sponsorship deals. Sponsorship is crucial to the Club and without it we would need to look at increasing annual subscriptions and match fees to meet costs.
In order to ensure all players have the logoed shirts there will be two collections from the Club for those that cannot make it to Fenton's. One on Saturday 21st April between 12pm and 1pm, and a second one on Tuesday 24th April between 7pm and 8pm. If you bring your shirt to the Club at one of these times please give it to Mark Windley. We will then get them taken to Fenton's and logoed on the next run so they will be back in time for the May 5th deadline. If you miss these collections you will need to go to Fenton's yourself.
If you have any queries please contact Dave Guthrie (Chairman), Mark Windley (Secretary), or Michael Flood (Treasurer), details for whom can be found on the contacts page.
Many thanks.

17/03/2012 - Natwest Cricket Force & Colt Parent Briefings
The winter is almost over and spring is nearly here so the facilities
at Bentley need their annual clean and preparation for the coming
season.
This years Natwest Cricket Force weekend is on Saturday 31st March
and Sunday 1st April. The cricket force weekend is for members to
support their Club by volunteering some time, whether that be an hour or
the whole weekend, every offer of help will be gladly appreciated. Each
day will run from 10am to 5pm and there are plenty of things to
be done, assuming the weather is on our side. There will also be tea,
coffee, and biscuits available to refresh volunteers.
The work planned includes:
- Painting
- Cleaning
- Tidying
- Gardening
- Netting Facility Preparation
On each day Paul Hollington & Mark Windley will be organising people
so please report to them on arrival and they will be glad to see you and
give you a task to get started on. Please ensure you wear suitable
clothing when attending, as paint and tough stains can be
difficult for you to remove from your clothes.
This years Natwest Cricket Force weekend will also include Colt
Parent Briefings, the schedule is as follows:
Saturday 31st March
1.45pm - U9's
2.30pm - U11's
Sunday 1st April
12pm - U13's
1pm - Girls
2pm - U15's / U16's
Each briefing will be about 30 to 45 minutes and more details of what
will be covered can be found on the
briefing outline. Basically they give
parents the chance to understand what's planned for the season and also
ask the coaches questions they may have.
If you require more details about the Natwest Cricket Force weekend
please contact Paul Hollington or Mark Windley, and if you have
questions about the Colt Parent briefings, please contact Ian Gray
(Colts Manager). Please see the
contacts page for their
details.
Many thanks for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you there.

The vouchers are available from Sainsbury's stores, petrol stations and with online groceries between 15th February and 10th April.

Bentley have received a £1200 grant from the Essex County Council's Big Society Fund. This money has gone towards a project to replace the water cylinder at the club, which will improve the showering facilities for all.
This grant has been a massive help towards improving the Club's facilities so we owe many thanks to the Big Society.
10/04/2011
