INTRODUCTION TO BCC

Bentley Cricket Club is a village team, based in the heart of Essex, with its own ground dedicated to cricket. We are now one of less than 100 Clubs in the whole of England that hold the accreditation of Clubmark from Sport England. This reflects the fact that we are a "safe, effective & child friendly" club. As well as this we are Renowned to have one of the best wickets and outfields in the district, the club house has recently taken a complete face lift, with the help of a lottery grant and extensive fund raising, and now complements the other facilities.

Bentley Cricket Club is open to all regardless of age, gender, and ability.  It aims for all its members to enjoy cricket as a recreational activity within an atmosphere of friendship and encouragement, which will lead to personal involvement in our sport to a level that brings pleasure.

This site is primarily for the use of club members but is also a good source of information for those people interested in joining the club. Those people should get a good feel for the club and its unique social atmosphere. Features included in this site are; weekly team news, fixtures, results, player profiles, map of directions to the club, averages and many others.

Bentley have a senior membership of roughly 40 members and colts membership of roughly 118, which until 2001 meant two sides were run on both Saturday and Sunday. However due to the way the club has been expanding a 3rd Saturday side was started in 2001, and then a 4th Saturday Side in 2005. Saturday is purely league cricket (Mid Essex League) where the 1st team are currently in the Premier Division, the 2nds in Division Two, the 3rds are in Division Five, and the 4ths are in Division 10. Sundays, however, is a mixture of cup competitions (including the National Village Championship) and friendly games. Bentley also now organises a midweek 20/Twenty cup competition which is played between the local village clubs.

Probably the biggest asset to the club over the last 15 years however, has been the Colts section. There are currently over 100 colts at the club, ranging from the ages of ten to seventeen years old. There is weekly coaching for the colts and weekend fixtures for the under 11's, under 13's, under 15's and under 16's. The back bone of the club has been built around these colts, the 1st team has no less than ten players who have progressed through the colts.

Bentley Colts aims to encourage children of all ages, ability, and gender to enjoy cricket as a recreational activity. It promises to provide quality coaching for all, promoting participation, potential, and progress towards playing cricket to a level that brings pleasure to each individual.
